The draft Technical Regulation establishes technical specifications intended to ensure compliance with MERCOSUR Technical Regulation on "Essential safety requirements for low-voltage electrical products", with the aim of guaranteeing the safety of consumers when using household and similar electrical appliances under foreseeable and normal conditions of use. In particular, the draft Technical Regulation establishes the application of IEC 60335-1 Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 1: General requirements (IEC 60335:1:2010+AMD1:2013 +AMD2:2016 Edition 5.2 2016-05), and incorporates some minor deviations with the aim of adapting the international standard to the MERCOSUR technical standardization and the local market situation.
